Hi there!

For anyone looking to work in the performing arts industry and make a living doing what you love, this is a great lifestyle business!

Located in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, capital needs are small as the entire Academy can be  conducted from your home office and from rent-by-the-hour studio locations after school and Saturday mornings. Children who attend love their classes! They are great fun and the students learn valuable life skills as well as gaining a great grounding in the performing arts.

I have been running this drama school for over 5 years now and it has been a wonderful experience working with young people to help them develop their confidence, and verbal communication skills through drama! I was a qualified teacher but had not done much drama other than majoring in it at teacher’s college many years ago! So, it was quite a learning curve when I first started(!) but has become a very fulfilling lifestyle occupation over time. It is very rewarding to see the children grow in their confidence; and feedback from parents is almost always very positive and we have so much fun in the classes it is hardly a job! I remember one girl who when she started with the Academy, was very withdrawn and obstinate in her refusal to participate. She ended up being the most expressive and outgoing student in the class! Another young girl had selective mutism and would not speak at all. She now is joining in beautifully and looks so happy when performing on stage!

It has been a great experience to have a stable income while doing what I love! I have had the freedom to bring my  own creativity to the classes while also having plenty of support with all curriculum and business systems provided. There are over 13 years of newly and regularly updated curriculum; the business side is managed with an on line administration programme and communication with parents is now starting to be through a closed web based social networking site accessible to students with parental approval. This is at the very forefront of everyday technology use. All training, operation procedures, telephone and face to face support, seminars/conferences, all advertising and company image art work; a national web site and optimised search engines are provided by the franchise office.

While running this academy I have also been studying a Grad Dip in Early Childhood Teaching so have not had  the extra time needed to expand and grow the business. But in addition to running after school and Saturday morning classes for 5 – 17 year olds, there are also additional opportunities provided for extending into holiday programmes, pre-school and adult classes. Similarly, there are options to teach in schools either doing demonstration lessons to gain more students for the after school classes; or doing weekly ongoing classes or package workshops.

I have quite a good collection of costumes, props and sets which will come with the handover of the business that are for the 4 year cycle of end of year plays that the academy does.

As my husband has been moved overseas to Fiji, and I am looking to join him when I have completed my commitments in Melbourne, this business opportunity is reluctantly available.

Please contact me about this rewarding opportunity at [email protected] or 0425 759 223 to express your interest and discuss this opportunity.

Here are some comments from parents about how their child/ren have or are benefiting from the Academy program…..

My daughter has been involved in this programme for over 7 years now and she continues to enjoy the challenges it offers. She has gained many skills, developed confidence and made new friendships. The Academy is an excellent programme! My son has been involved in this programme for 18 months. He enjoys the programme and has gained confidence in so many areas. I am very thankful for the wonderful opportunities the programme offers.
Jenny Syme – Heathmont

We are so pleased with the results we have seen from D’Arcy attending drama. We find that D’Arcy’s confidence, creativity and self expression has blossomed and working with lovely teachers and fellow students has been a great experience. Thank you!
Warren Williams – Chirnside Park

Chloe has improved so much with regard to confidence and speech. She loves to go to drama and it provides a great outlet for creativity. She is more outspoken, able to address any audience and speak up in class.
Irene Pfeiffer – Vermont

The programme has helped both my children to increase their self confidence and develop their social skills. They have enjoyed making new friends and being able to perform on stage. The teachers take the time encourage the students to do their best and to venture into new areas of development.
Helen Eyssens – Ferntree Gully

Alex has really been enjoying drama immensely. I am very impressed that the performance opportunities are taken seriously and worked towards as goals; but are not over done, or too stressing, or too ostentatious like some dance and drama schools that we have been involved with.
Tanya Hardidge – Monbulk

Allison always loves to come to drama. One main benefit has been an increase in our daughter’s willingness to “have a go”, “take a risk”, “try new things”, as a result of being encouraged to do this within the drama programme in the context of an intimate, safe environment. This overflows into other areas. Great! Improved articulation also.
Kerrie Talty – Wantirna South
