Patrons are often advised to turn off their mobile phones before a performance, but perhaps that pre-show announcement needs to also include to not attempt to charge phones from the stage.

Social media has been buzzing with the story of an audience member who climbed into the stage at New York’s Booth Theatre and attempted to charge his phone using one of the power points on the set. Until now, the news had only come via tweets from audience members and cast of the show, Hand To God, but playwright Rob Askins posted video footage on Facebook so we can all see just how crazy audience members can be.

Oh – and for the record – the power point doesn’t actually work. It’s a fake, just part of the set design.
