Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
After the annus horribilis that was 2020, CLOC has taken a leaf out of the iconic Priscilla songbook, as we loudly and proudly proclaim ‘WE HAVE SURVIVED’! Not only have we survived, but we are coming back more excited and artistically rejuvenated than ever, to finally bring our loyal audiences the spectacle, glamour and uproarious fun that is Priscilla. It is the perfect show to rediscover the joy of musical theatre. So get ready to shake your groove thing as CLOC fluffs the feathers, sprinkles the sparkles, and polishes the platforms for an epic journey of self-discovery, mateship and acceptance.

Based on the iconic Oscar-winning 1994 Australian film, PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT is the hilarious adventure of three loud, proud and very different friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for the outback to put on the show of a lifetime when political correctness was just a thought bubble. Along the way, they strut, dance, sing, laugh, cry, and learn more about themselves – while singing up a storm to a non-stop parade of dance-floor classics including It’s Raining Men, Hot Stuff, I Will Survive, I Love the Nightlife, Go West, Colour My World, Boogie Wonderland, Shake Your Groove Thing and many more!

The Addams Family

The Addams Family is a musical comedy containing flecks of ghoulish humour, sprinkled with that allure of  falling in love and a mixture of magical madness!  Laughter echoes into the darkest corners and you will leave full of excitement for that stroke of 12 and a howling wolf across the midnight moon.

Take a trip with Wendy Samantha Productions at The Chapel, at Chapel Off Chapel as they journey into the macabre, deep in Central Park surrounded by flying arrows, potions, torture devices, and explosions. Sink your feet into unknown grounds and be prepared for the unexpected, the uninvited, and the undead! Shows commence on the gong at 7pm Thursday 27th May, Friday 28th May and Saturday 29th May.

The Addams Family are hosting a special dinner for one night only, and they are looking forward to having some fresh meat on the table.  Enter the Beineke family full of colour, happiness and Hallmark greetings.  So what happens when boy meets girl and love blossoms under a whacky rooftop that is set to grow wings and take off? How do two households from completely different worlds make it through one normal storm stricken night together?  What is, normal?

“Normal is an illusion.  What is normal for the spider, is a calamity for the fly” – Morticia

With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, The Addams Family cartoon characters created by Charles Addams, are brought to life in this wonderfully sorceress event.

SYNOPSIS

In a farmhouse at the edge of Salisbury Plain a family is falling apart. Stephen can’t afford to put his mother into care. Arthur can’t afford to stop working and look after his wife. When a young stranger moves in to care for Edie as her mind unravels, the family is forced to ask: Are we living the way we wanted?
VISITORS is a sharply funny love story that takes a haunting, beautiful look at the way our lives slip past us.

CAST

Edie – late 60s – early 70s. A farmer’s wife who has early signs of dementia. She can recall the past but more and more forgets the present. Despite that she can still be quite perceptive.

Arthur – Edie’s husband late 60s – early 70s. Reticent but wants to do the right thing. Sometimes cantankerous, he gives the appearance of being robust but is prone to falling down.

Stephen – their son, in his early 40s. He did not follow in his father’s footsteps on the farm, rather leaving to work in the insurance business. Somewhat estranged from his family, he is rather discontented and frustrated with life.

Kate – a university graduate in her 20s. Hired by Stephen to look after his parents she is drifting as she tries to decide what to do with her life. She is strong and empathetic.

Accents: Preferably soft ‘west country’ accents for Edie and Arthur. Less so for Stephen. Kate can be any English accent.

The Addams Family @ Warrandyte High School Theatre
Jul 2 @ 8:00 pm – Jul 10 @ 8:00 pm
The Addams Family @ Warrandyte High School Theatre

Come and join the Diamond Valley Singers production of the 8-performance season of this well-known TV show; “The Addams Family”.
In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family. Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday, however, is now an eighteen year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own. She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family — the most un-Addams sounding person one could be! And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinekes to their home for dinner. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

“Acting locally and thinking Globally” Diamond Valley Singers will donate proceeds from the performances to International Needs Australia and Open House in Ivanhoe.
