Lauren Lloyd Williams
Resolution is a play about family, identity, and morality. Abigail Woods has tried her whole life to separate herself from her mother Diane, the public and formidable ‘Media Matriarch’. The CEO of Olympus Media, an Australian based news conglomerate, Diane is loved and respected by her peers and public. Abigail has never shared this opinion of her mother, but when Diane dies suddenly Abigail’s life is pulled out of control as she named heir to the company and is catapulted into the world of corporate media.
It’s a play about how she survives in an environment where not even she is sure who she is and about the weight of the responsibility she now carries. More than anything, it’s about her relationship with Diane and how that bond still has the power to shape Abigail.
Brave New Word has been working collaboratively with writers to produce critically acclaimed new work since 2013. They have been recognised as a leading platform for emerging Australian playwrights and theatre practitioners, and are excited share the premier of Resolution with audiences in July.
