Producers Michael Harrison, David Ian and John Frost today announced the four young actors who will share the role of Fletcher, the son of the Rachel Marron character, during the Melbourne season of the award-winning hit musical The Bodyguard. The young actors are Aston Droomer (9 years old, of Templestowe), Gabriel Ingram (10, North Carlton), Adam Punsalang (13, Geelong) and Kershawn Theodore (8, Keysborough).
Following a hugely popular Sydney season, The Bodyguard begins its Brisbane season at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC on 19 July before playing at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from August 24. Leading The Bodyguard cast is the fabulous Paulini as Rachel Marron, with Kip Gamblin as bodyguard Frank Farmer, Prinnie Stevens as Nicki Marron and Emily Williams as the Alternate Rachel Marron. Andrew Hazzard is playing Sy Spector, Patrick Williams is Bill Devaney, Brendan Irving plays the Stalker, Damien Bermingham is Tony, and Glaston Toft plays Ray Court.
The ensemble cast comprises Kirrah Amosa, Anthony Bartley, Samantha Bruzzese, Amy Campbell, Olivia Cariniato, Chris Van Doren, Heath Keating, Bree Langridge, Sasha Lian, Samuel McKeown II, Lachlan Martin, Priscilla Stavrou, Maxwell Trengove, Blake Varga and Geoffrey Winter.
Giving the show four stars, Limelight said it is “Unmissable… a must-see”, while Daily Review said it is “Flat out brilliant.” The Sydney Morning Herald described Paulini as “Ravishing… She’s the real deal”, while Stagenoise said she “brings her own vocal persona to the party – somewhere between Whitney and Beyonce.” Theatre People described The Bodyguard as “a night of pure, unadulterated fun,” while The Fix said, “Grab your friends and go.”
Based on the Warner Bros hit movie which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Bodyguard has been hailed as “London’s Best Musical” by UKs Magic FM, and “The Hottest Ticket in Town” by The Sunday Mirror. The film was written by the acclaimed, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, The Empire Strikes Back), and the musical features a book by Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman).
Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
A ‘BRILLIANT!’ (The Times), breathtakingly romantic thriller, The Bodyguard features a whole host of irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, Run to You, I Have Nothing, Greatest Love Of All, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You.
