Melbourne's introduction to the premiere season Ghost the Musical has been postponed for a cost-effective redesign in light of box office failures. Sales of New Yorks's $10 million season have lost $15 million and the London season will be cut short.

The show, created by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, was scheduled to play Her Majesty's Theatre in August 2013. Tourism and Major Events State Minister Louise Asher touted premiere blockbusters as a way to support employment, investment, entertainment and liveability in Melbourne when she announced the show last November.

In response to this disappointment producer Louise Withers explains the show intends to continue its Australian tour with a revised and more travel-friendly set as the technological wizardry and special effects of the London season will not prove feasible in light of shorter seasons.

Despite the reduced market, Withers has yet to reschedule the season amid fierce competition from Australian venues. Dates will be released soon at www.ghostthemusical.com/australia/
