Andrew Lloyd Webber has recently returned to his home in London, after holidaying in Majorca where he's been busy working on songs for his new musical, The Profumo Affair.
Based on the true story of the 1961 UK political sex scandal, in which a showgirl and mistress of a soviet spy, is involved in a scandalous affair with the UK Secretary of State, John Profumo.
The musical centres around the man who introduced the pair, Stephen Ward. "He was a scapegoat" says Lloyd Webber, "They had to find a crime to fit him". He expressed sympathy for Ward, who was accused of living off immoral earnings and subsequently committed suicide.
Preparations for the musical are still at an early stage, "It's a matter of getting the shape, making it dramatically secure" Lloyd Webber explains.
This year marks 40 years of Lloyd Webber musicals running consecutively in London's West End.
