After a critically acclaimed sell out season in the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival Amity Dry makes her Melbourne Comedy Festival debut with the hilarious cabaret show 39 FOREVER.

39 FOREVER is an honest, insightful and laugh out loud comedy about ageing in an image obsessed world where social media, selfies, Botox and the Kardashians have forever altered the quest for eternal youth and relevance. From her childhood home perm to the eve of her 40th birthday Amity explores the pressure women face to maintain the beauty ideal and how it changes over the years. She pokes fun at her 80’s childhood and 90’S teen exploits and on the verge of her 40’S questions whether women really do become invisible at 40, if Botox is now a mandatory part of ageing and whether 40 is the new 30  – or that’s just something you say to make you feel better.

39 FOREVER was a stand out hit of the Adelaide Fringe festival, with the critics saying:

“For those of you who only think of The Block when you hear the name Amity Dry, you are sadly missing out; for there is so much more to this sparkling little pocket rocket of talent. Dry is hilarious and so honest in telling her story… She is as sparkling and glittery as her beautiful gown and her voice is clear, crisp and strong with some notes Streisand and Midler would kill for. This is definitely a show that has come of a certain age but spreads itself across the years and even gender. Go see the lovely Amity Dry and remain 39 Forever. 5/5 Glam Adelaide

“The real standout numbers of this show are the ones composed by Dry herself, showcasing not only her powerhouse vocals to rival any musical theatre diva, but her incredible talent as a composer and lyricist. Amity Dry has a personality that sparkles as much as her gown, but it is the honesty and vulnerability in her story-telling that endears her the most to her audience. 39 Forever has enough tenderness to pull at your heartstrings and plenty of warmth and humour to ensure you leave smiling and feeling thoroughly entertained.” 5/5 Theatre People

“While this show is an enjoyable, song-laden, cathartic journey from childhood to motherhood for Amity and her fellow travellers in the audience, its candid and unthreatening style means men would do well to attend to deepen their understanding of the profound themes, doubts, and minutiae that many women confront and struggle with in their lives.…There’s something about 39 Forever that will endear itself to many people and I believe it is the blend of disarmingly honest storytelling, wit, and the sort of soundtrack you’d expect from a gal born in 1978.” 4.5/5 The Adelaide Show
