The powerful theatre work based on actual events, The Table of Knowledge, is playing at Riverside Theatres Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 July 2013.
The Table of Knowledge was developed by version 1.0 based on the characters and words from the ICAC inquiry.
ICAC exposed sexual obsessions, envelopes full of cash and a group of powerful men that met regularly outside a local kebab shop at a plastic table they called ‘the table of knowledge.’ This is a story of scandal, which went far beyond expectation, and suggested entanglements with the NSW State Government and subsequently led to the sacking of the entire Wollongong City Council.
Based in Sydney, version 1.0 is an ensemble of artists who make performance through collaboration, investigating and also enacting democracy. They have turned their theatrical vision onto this scandal in The Table of Knowledge to produce a hilarious and compelling interrogation of power, corruption, and governance in contemporary Australia, showing audiences what really happened behind closed doors.
