WATERDALE are excited to present our 2012 production of
INTO THE WOODS
From Stephen Sondheim, the genius that bought us A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins and Company, Into the Woods combines the well-
known fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding hood with the story of the Baker and his Wife who desperately want a child. The characters set off into the woods to achieve their ‘Happily ever after’. Once the characters have accomplished their goals, however, they learn about the pitfalls of greed and gluttony. Finally, they learn about the need for community and family when they must unite to fight together.

A nod to the Regent Park Production
For the most part I enjoyed this production of Into the Woods. It's a difficult and lengthy show to pull off. I couldn't help but notice the striking similarities between this production and the London Open Air production staged in Regent Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYvq_pDcVbw&feature=player_embedded The production is available to purchase through digitaltheatre.com and is a brilliantly original take on the show - including the little boy as the narrator, the woman in gold lyrca as the harp, the steam punk costumes and all most of the musical cuts that featured in Waterdale's production.
