Polly's Waffle
Back by popular demand after a successful season at The Blue Room in March 2008, Polly's Waffle is showcasing at the Perth Fringe Festival this February.
Polly is a fat, ugly girl who stuffs herself with food and starves herself of sex. Her sex, thin flatmate Evelyn stuffs herself with sex and starves herself of food. These two polarised women are revolted by each other at the same time as being fused together by their shared pain. Secrets are revealed, insultes and food are hurled, and ultimately the deep dark forces that drive them are unleashed.
Written by Perth playwright, Tiffany Barton, this ultra-black, high-impact comedy dealing with female lust and gluttony is influenced by novelist Kathy Acker and playwright Sarah Kane.

Polly's Waffle
Oh deary me, or should there be an expletive in there? It’s that time of year again isn’t it, when we, the tax-paying philistines of Perth have to dig deep into our loincloths and divvy up for The Fringe World Festival? Thing is, I can get gratuitous nudity and swearing for nothing on the television. “Cutting edge drama,” you say? I hesitate to name a particular production in case a bevy of Festival heavies comes knocking at my door and whisks me off to a re-education workshop in Loveyland, but gosh darnit lurking somewhere amidst the rest of the junk on offer is that blinking Polly’s Waffle. Again! I saw a production of this particular play several years ago and once was enough. The functions of each and every bodily orifice were discussed in forensic detail using the sort of ‘shocking’ language one would only expect to find on an adolescent’s Facebook page. Come on Perth, we can do better than this.
