My Fair Lady
We travelled from Sydney to Melbourne last Saturday to see a performance of My Fair Lady. We first saw the play on 30th September 1960 at Her Majesty's Theatre, Sydney. It was our first date.
Thank you very much to your cast and production team for a memorable evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed your presentation (we hope we didn't sing along too loudly). The performance was everything we had hoped it would be - the singing, dancing costumes, sets and of course the wonderful orchestra helped us celebrate and remember a very special night in our lives.
Thank you again. John & Jill Marshall
My Fair Lady
Well done O.S.M.D.C.!
My view is that you instinctively know in the first two minutes of a amateur musical, whether you are set for something special.Well I must say, by the most part, My Fair Lady, delivered on nearly all fronts. The opening music alone set the tone, followed by exacting measures taken in the sumptuous scenic design, terrific costuming and marvellous attention to details, charachterizing the era of the piece.
Look out C.L.O.C., move over "White Horse" batten down the hatches Melbourne amateur theatre, there is a new PLAYER in town. Only three years young too! The evenings ride was full of tight , lush, vibrant and evenly placed ingrediants that enhanced the overall strength and integrity, she was a fair lady indeed.
Performances, were well met at most levels, with clear stand outs, which I am not confident in saying, should have been the case? This may have fallen on the Director's shoulders. I was not quite convinced , either way.The order of the day accross the board, with the acting suit was fine and certainly of a high order.Special mention to an excellent Eliza and to a well measured and wonderfully generous Colonel Pickering.
Also, an extra clap of appreciation to the adept sound balance and a spontaneous round of applaus to the magnificent set to scale, under the bridge scene, an absolute visual delight.
Three hats to the movement and groupings and a singular well done to the entire enterprize!
Fair Lady is a piece that can either seperate or situate a company, if not done to it's complexed potential.I mean, it is one of those must do shows to demonstrate our legitimacy, if we are to mix it up with the big boys.It is a purist feast that requires all the boxes to be ticked,in order to pull it off. This company has taken a risk, they have run with it and have raised the Titanic.
Good work O.S.M.D.C.
All they need now is more people to see it!
Ring the relli's.
An appreciative audience member. Love your work, Adrian.
