performance and discovering further techniques to allow fuller,
uninhibited imaginative responses.
Wednesday 7:30pm – 9:30pm

With 200 Victorian
government schools, some 2500 students and over 5000 costumes, the
Victorian State Schools Spectacular is one of the largest and most
breathtaking performances in Australia.
The 2008 spectacular
‘Made in Australia” is a celebration of all things Australian. From the
outback to the sea, the bush to bustling cities, the hum of crickets to
the crack of a cricket bat… it’s time to get together and celebrate all
the things we love about our home, Australia.
We “tune in” to some of
the most memorable songs and music that have become a soundtrack to our
Australian way of life, performed by over 2000 talented musicians, singers
and dancers from Victorian government schools. Our Aussie musical
landscape is as diverse as the land and its people. Where else would you
hear anything from Kylie to the Oils, from “Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport” to
“Tenterfield Saddler”?
Come with us and
celebrate all the beauty, the joy, the passion, the enterprise and the
humour Australia has to offer. "Made in Australia" is home grown, 100%
Australian made and truly spectacular.

SYNOPSIS:
The Producers, with
its lavish wit, satirical plot, brilliant music score, charming
characters and 1950's glamour, only too well proves itself as the well
loved, award winning musical that it became on Broadway. This
refreshing and up-lifting musical won 12 Tony awards, including Best
Musical for 2001 and ran for a staggering 2,502 performances.
The
Producers is a
comedy-musical
adapted by
Mel Brooks
and Thomas Meehan from Brooks'
1968 film of
the same name, with lyrics by Brooks and music by Brooks
and Glen Kelly. As in the film, the story concerns two theatrical
producers (The corrupt and washed-up Bialystock and Bloom; a former
nerve –wrecked accountant on a new lease of life) who scheme to get
rich by overselling interests in a
Broadway
flop. Revenue for their show comes from Bialystock wowing little old
ladies for their sponsorship. Complications arise when the show
unexpectedly turns out to be a success. The humor of the show is
accessible to a wide range of audiences, and draws on ridiculous
accents such as
caricatures
of
homosexuals
and
Nazis
through their sure-to-flop musical “Spring time for Hitler”, as well
as many
show business
in-jokes. |

Six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, who devise a daring way
to make some quick cash. Inspired by watching their wives "passion" for
the "Girl's Night Out" they decide to put together their own show!! During
this journey, they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship
and the ability to have huge amounts of fun in a repressed economic and
social climate.
As the guys work through their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of
uselessness and anxieties – dealing with everything from being overweight
to child custody, bigotry to being gay – they discover that not only are
they stronger as a group, but that the strength they find in each other
gives them the individual courage to face their respective problems and
overcome them.
There is enormous heart to THE FULL MONTY and the real themes expressed in
the show, about taking charge of one's life and following one's dreams –
which are indeed, great lessons for all of us!!!
