WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND AUSTRALIAN THEATRES?
Melbourne based performer Gareth Jacobs is set to take over the role of Genie in Disney’s Aladdin from Tuesday, December 19th 2017 with Michael James Scott‘s final performance being held on Sunday 17th.
Aladdin plays at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre until January 28th, 2018 before casting its spell over Brisbane and Perth.

The Making of Muriel and Friday on My Mind to air tonight
Tonight (Sunday, November 26th) will see ABC TV and iView air two documentaries.
The first, The Making of Muriel follows the creative team behind Muriel’s Wedding the Musical through the process of writing the music and the casting process. The Making of Muriel airs at 7:40pm before the first of a two part series on The Easybeats, Friday on My Mind featuring Du Toit Bredenkamp (Mamma Mia, Sound of Music) at 8:40pm.
Luke Kennedy performs anthem at Ashes Series Game 1
Congratulations to Luke Kennedy (Jesus Christ Superstar) who performed the National Anthem on Thursday, November 23rd ahead of the first game of the Ashes series in Brisbane.
Wednesday, November 22nd saw the cast announced for StageArt’s 2018 season of Falsettos. Joining the 9 member cast are Don Winsor (Titanic the Musical) as Marvin, Sarah Shahinian (Les Miserables- USA Tour) as his wife Trina, Sam Ward (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Whizzer, Nick Simpson- Deeks (NED- A New Australian Musical) as Mendel, Francesca Arena (In the Heights) as Charlotte, Jenni Little (Kinky Boots) as Cordelia, Ben Jason- Easton (Les Miserables Australia), Lachie Graham (Follies In Concert) as Male Cover and Bianca Bruce (Into the Woods) as Female Cover.
Falsettos is set in 1979 in New York City, Marvin has left his wife Trina for another man, Whizzer. Marvin wants a tight knit family with the inclusion of Whizzer but it is a situation no one is happy with.

Set your sails and join the castaways as the iconic tv show Gilligan’s Island comes to life on stage at Melbourne’s Chapel off Chapel from February 15th to March 4th. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
This week saw the full adult cast announcement of the 10th Anniversary Tour of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The tour commences in Melbourne on January 21st before seasons in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Highway Run Production’s production of High Fidelity opened at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre on Wednesday, November 22nd in front of a very enthusiastic crowd who had been encouraged to dress up as their favourite film clip.

Vivid White tells the story of Liz (Verity Hunt- Ballard- Mary Poppins) and Ben (Brent Hill- Little Shop of Horrors) who have been friends with Cynthia (Christina O’Neill- Avenue Q) and Evan (Ben Mingay- The Phantom of the Opera) for years and would not let anything get in the way of their friendship except when both couples set their sights on buying the same house.
Written by Eddie Perfect and directed by Dean Bryant, the full cast also includes Gillian Cosgriff (To the Moon & Back) , Virginia Gay (Calamity Jane) and Keegan Joyce (Once).

Australian performer Caroline O’Connor who is currently portraying Countess Lily in the Broadway production of Anastasia performed alongside fellow cast mates during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
