WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND AUSTRALIAN THEATRES?

Cast Announcement: Come From Away

Tuesday, November 27th saw the announcement for the cast of the Australian premiere of Come From Away.

Set against the backdrop of the September 11 attacks, Come From Away explores the true events that transpired when 38 planes were ordered to land unexpectedly in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, as part of Operation Yellow Ribbon. Drawing on interviews, documentaries, and letters as a stimulus, the writers have developed a groundbreaking piece of theatre that examines the human spirit and our capacity to show empathy in times of great adversity.

The cast is: Nicholas Brown (The Long Forgotten Dream), Nathan Carter (Kinky Boots), Zoe Gertz (High Fidelity), Simon Maiden (Curtains), Laura Murphy (Muriel’s Wedding), Richard Piper (The Black Rider), Emma Powell (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Katrina Retallick (Big Fish), Kellie Rode (Miracle City), Glen Hogstrom (WICKED), Angela Kennedy (Mamma Mia!), Kathleen Moore (Phantom of the Opera), Jensen Overend (Brigadoon), Ash Roussety (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) and Alana Tranter (Georgy Girl).

The show opens in July 2019 at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre with tickets available from https://comefromaway.com.au.
