Theatre and Orchestra pit help.

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I am currently completing my final research project on theatre spaces, with a focus on looking at orchestra or band pits and their acoustics. Part of my project is to conduct a short study and carry out some experiments. The study is looking at the sound levels in these areas, and how they have been designed to overcome the problems. I was wondering whether anyone had access or knew of anyone who could allow me access to a theatre or opera house with an orchestra pit. I would only need the space for a short time. I have already heard back from HMT, Mariner Group and Melbourne Theatre Company and they are unable to accommodate me. I was thinking maybe the smaller theatres, or theatres who aren't staging a production at the moment, would be more accessible? I would appreciate any help. You can contact me on s0680570@sms.ed.ac.uk if you would like more information. Thank you. Richard Robinson

Contact the Athenaeum Theatre. They've recently had a new pit put in, I'm sure someone there knows something.

They are re-opening hamer hall next week surely after that someone would be able to answer some of your questions.
When Opera Australia brings the ring cycle to Melbourne they will be re-designing the orchestra pit in the state theatre to accomodate the larger-than-normal orchestra that is required for the full production.
