Reports Camera needed for Hello Dolly
Submitted by Anonymous on Thursday, 27th Sep 2012
hi all, i'm the props man for Babirra's upcoming production of hello dolly. i have since sourced one old style reports camera as they called them - not a tripod 'hide under the black' cloth type. i'm hoping in the theatre world that somewhere out there someone has/knows of where to access another - ideally it has a flash that works. can attach a photo i dont think but anyone who has an idea can you email me on scavell@gmail.com thanks, Steve Cavell

Why don't you try and make one?
I worked with a company that had borrowed one for a show and when I had a look at it - it was made very simply. The body was crafted out of wood and the flash was a silver bowl with a modern flash fitted inside. There was a simple mechanism which allowed the operator to set off the flash at the appropriate time. Give it a go - I'm sure you can do it and just think how proud of it you will be when it's done! Mind you - you won't want one of those clumsey actors getting their hands on it! No matter how hard you try nothing is completly 'actor proof'! LOL!
Camera Inspiration
Here's an example of a camera which was around at the time...
