Tale as old as time...

As I sit down to write this article, my mind is filled with famous songs such ‘Be our Guest’, ‘Human Again’ and of course the title song, ‘Beauty and the Beast’.  As a child of the 80’s I grew up watching the Disney movie and was absolutely thrilled when it came to the stage a few years ago.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a magical tale that has enthralled audiences across stage and screen for years. The beautiful melodies are intertwined by an enchanting narrative and enhanced by some quirky, lovable and memorable characters that leave the audience humming the tunes for hours after they’ve left the theatre. Everything a Disney production should be.

Williamstown Musical Theatre Company Inc, a company renowned for producing high quality productions like; ‘Into the Woods,’ Assassins- A Musical’, ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ and most recently the highly successful ‘Dusty- The Original Pop Diva’, have now spread their wings to encompass a brand new junior program.  Aimed at enticing and encouraging a new breed of theatre performers, Williamstown Theatre Company is proud to launch its junior program with ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

The theatre company caters for performers aged 8-19, nurturing and building confidence of tomorrow’s theatre stars. As the company states; The WMTC Junior Program forms a new opportunity for young performers and is aimed at providing children and teens with high quality creative learning experiences in the theatre arts. A positive, supportive and fun environment is being provided to promote and develop self-respect, confidence, awareness, imagination, creativity, determination and social skills in young people. Cast members also develop discipline, memorization techniques, motor skills, coordination, and many other crucial foundation skills through creative dramatics and, in doing so, will enhance their self-esteem, grace, and poise, both onstage and off. ” And this is a good strong message to send out to all potential up and coming members and audience alike.

With tickets selling like hot cakes, getting your hands on them might be harder than finding Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket as it promises to be highly entertaining theatrical event! So make the journey over the bridge to be carried away on a whimsical musical adventure by some highly talented kids.
