About Tommy

TP Rating:
3
Venue:
Red Stitch Theatre

A young man shines his shoes, getting ready to leave for war. He sits on a television, which plays scenes from the warfront; politicians giving speeches; screaming women; tanks; gunfire. And there is this young man, Tommy - just a boy - who is excited, athletic, full of testosterone, and ready to launch himself into the middle of the carnage. But what begins as the start of a young man’s exciting journey into the real world turns quickly spirals into an experience that very nearly destroys him.

Boxman - Moving Parts 2013

TP Rating:
5
Venue:
Gasworks Theatre

On Friday night I saw “Boxman,” a widely-travelled and much-acclaimed show.  Written by popular writer Daniel Keene and performed by Terry Yeboah, it is directed by Matt Scholten.  It takes the story of one man, Ringo, whose life story is horrific.  His attempts to cling to some good cheer from his past, live a functional life and somehow keep together his sanity, make for an intensely engaging and involving show.

Who Saved JFK?

TP Rating:

Venue:
Chapel Off Chapel

When a celebrity dies, no matter the circumstances, there is always a lot of interest, coverage, and theories surrounding their death. The subject is often picked over with a fine tooth comb, witnesses interviewed, stories investigated and finally, books written. Their death becomes mythologised, the truth resting uneasily somewhere at the bottom of all the content.
