“Two For the Road Promotions” have been successfully providing quality productions for primary schools for the past twenty-one years. Due to the sudden passing of the sole proprietor this business is regretfully now for sale.

We currently have three different productions which have been regularly and consistently booked across the Melbourne metropolitan area;

“Amy’s Amazing Adventures” is designed for Years Prep – 2 and focusses on friendship skills and the qualities of politeness, honesty and helping others. It is particularly popular during Term One when classmates are getting to know each other and how to interact with new friends. We have a designated mailing brochure aimed at Catholic schools for whom this show matches the Christian qualities they seek to promote in children.

“Australia Bound” is about the Immigration Experience that makes Australia what it is today. It fosters tolerance and the acceptance of all migrants and has a very strong message that all of us, except the indigenous population, came from somewhere else so we all have an equal right to be here. It matches the requirements of Year 3 – 6 areas of study and is possibly our most performed show.

“Convicts, Gold and Anzacs” concentrates on the icons of our history and the way they have shaped our nation. It is the most serious of our performances and as such is usually booked for Years 5/6. It’s very popular around Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

All shows incorporate both original music and “traditional” tunes such as “Botany Bay.” When they make a booking schools receive a Teaching Kit including a CD of the songs and the shows are all interactive.

Further details and the relation these shows have to the Key Learning Areas of the school curricula are on the website: www.twofortheroad.com.au

Note: the website mentions “Basil’s Safety House Show” but since the Safety House Program was disbanded we no longer perform this show.

Each production is written for a male who can sing and cover a range of dialects/accents and age ranges and a female who likewise must be able to sing, play a range of characters including “Amy” who is six years old and several male characters in “Australia Bound”. The third member of the team needs to be a technically minded actor who runs the audio set up and also plays many of the “authority figures” such as the ship’s Captain and Governor Phillip. He can be older than the other two actors.

The sale includes a Toyota HI Ace van packed with the scenery, costumes and Audio equipment for all three shows. Scripts, teaching notes, CDs of the music and schools’ lists also supplied along with full support in rehearsing and staging the shows.

The asking price is $8000.00 or outright sale of the van for $3500.00 and a fee per performance to be negotiated. APRA fees are also payable on the performances
