It’s a show that’s thrilled millions of theatregoers across the world since it first opened on London’s West End almost 28 years ago. And it was in that original production that the remarkable talent of international musical theatre superstar Lea Salonga was revealed to the world.
Now, as the 25th anniversary production of this critically acclaimed musical wows Broadway audiences, Packemin Productions and Riverside Theatres are giving Sydney audiences the chance in 2017 to see Miss Saigon – the timeless and tragic tale from Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil (the creators of Les Misérables).
Set during the Vietnam War, Miss Saigon is the story of an American soldier, Chris, and a Vietnamese girl, Kim, who fall in love but are subsequently separated during the fall of Saigon.
Miss Saigon is a musical of massive proportions: passionate, profound, and heart-wrenchingly honest. With a sung-through score and tour-de-force roles for actors, Miss Saigon is a theatrical experience that will stay with you for years to come.
Packemin’s production will be led by acclaimed performers, Marcus Rivera, as The Engineer (Miss Saigon and The King and I), Vivien Emsworth as Kim (The King and I and Hairspray), Haydan Hawkins as Chris (Priscilla and Dogfight) and Ashleigh Barlow as Ellen (American Idiot and Wicked).
Packemin Productions, a Pro/Am company, has become well known on Sydney’s musical theatre scene in recent years for taking on some of musical theatre’s most loved works and bringing them back to the stage in productions of high quality and grand scale. Their sell-out seasons of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz, Hairspray, Annie, Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Mary Poppins and, most recently, Wicked have wowed audiences with casts of over 200 performers, elaborate production elements and highly skilled creative and technical teams.
Don’t miss this breath-taking new production of Miss Saigon from Packemin Productions and Riverside Theatres!
