Exclusive: Whitehorse Press Release

Official word from Whitehorse Musical Theatre regarding their future:

Whitehorse Musical Theatre are currently experiencing some financial difficulties following their 2010 season, and are exploring all options in being able to maintain the name and history of the company. At this stage, WMT will not be staging a May 2011 production.

The committee would also like to clarify that at this point the company has not folded, and key decisions for Whitehorse's future will be discussed at the Annual General Meeting and subsequent Special General Meeting, all to be held on Sunday February 13, from 2pm at The Grove Uniting Church.

Thanks for the update, Steve. It's nice to have something solid to quell the rumours that have been flying around. We hope that Whitehorse will decide to continue beyond your AGM on 13 February, as the loss of such an important company would be a great blow to Victoria's amateur theatre community.
