Is Broadway's hottest ticket, The Book of Mormon, coming to town?

John Frost (producer of Wicked) was in New York last month to see the production with ideas of bringing it to Australian audiences. If reports of a 2012/13 arrival are true, a Melbourne opening is in favour due to the lack of theatre space in Sydney.

The Sunday Telegraph recently printed a rumour that Hugh Sheridan had been approached to play the lead although this has not been confirmed.

The Book of Mormon is a religious satire musical with book, lyrics, and music by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The Broadway production has picked up numerous awards including nine Tony Awards. An original Broadway cast recording was released in May 2011 and became the highest-charting Broadway cast album in over four decades, reaching #4 on the Billboard Charts.
