I would like to announce a new addition to the Theatre People team.

Kris Weber (A.K.A – K.E.Weber) has just been appointed as the new Editor – Plays, a position that has been vacant for some time.

We are really keen to grow our presence in the “legit” theatre world and the appointment of an experienced and highly regarded figure, such as Kris to this position will most definitely give us a foot hold into a space that we’ve dabbled in, but have not consistently focused on for any length of time. There is some amazing work being produced out there by our friends in the “straight” theatre world and we want to promote as much of it as we can!

Here’s a little about Kris...

Kris has had a love affair with the stage, and those actors and directors that honour it, for many years. She has acted in over 30 productions with some of the highlights being: Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire; Alice in I Never Sang For My Father; Pearl in Summer of the Seventeenth Doll; Helga Ten Dorp in Deathtrap; Lady Cynthia Muldoon in The Real Inspector Hound and Hilary in Hotel Sorrento.

Kris has directed 20 plus productions with some of the most memorable being: Agnes of God; Steel Magnolias; Cosi; Last of the Red Hot Lovers; The Odd Couple (Female Version); The Castle; Nuts, The Laramie Project and Speaking in Tongues.

Kris has also been a reviewer for both print and electronic periodicals and written other theatre related articles for same. She has been an in-house adjudicator for various Melbourne theatre companies and runs successful theatre workshops for small groups of actors. She has also been a critical observer and advisor to VCE Theatre Studies students preparatory to their performance exams.

Please join me in welcoming Kris to the TP team! Kris can be contacted at editor.kris@thatrepeople.com.au

I would also like to announce that Brigid DeNeefe will be moving into the role of “Community Manager”. Brigid will be responsible for our entire social media presence, including our Facebook and soon to be launched Twitter page, as well as our TP Talk and other interactive comments sections on the site. Brigid is well known to the TP Community, having worked with us previously in the now redundant role of Traffic Manager. Brigid can be contacted at community@theatrepeople.com.au
