What is 'Funny'?

The definition of Funny:

1.

providing fun; causing amusement or laughter; amusing; comical: a funny remark; a funny person.

2.

attempting to amuse; facetious: Did you really mean that or were you just being funny?

3.

warranting suspicion; deceitful; underhanded: We thought there was something funny about those
extra charges.

4.

Informal. insolent; impertinent: Don't get funny with me, young man!

5.

curious; strange; peculiar; odd: Her speech has a funny twang.

6.

Informal. a funny remark or story; a joke: to make a funny.

 

However, we can ascertain from this that the definition of funny is distinctly unfunny. Throw out your Webster’s, don’t bother with Wikipedia, and don’t ask your Grandpa! For the tickling of your funnius boneius, we have the brand new definition of funny direct from the Dictionary of LOL….
 

1. The Candarian crab walk (David Woods)

2. The unexpected, something that makes the audience think “what the” (Mario Mohorko)

3. All the behind the scene craziness putting this show together (Suz Tate)

4. The British are funny. Maybe it has something to do with the accent (Will Sayers)

5. A song from City of Angels. It isn’t that funny though (Liam Drennan)

6. Random facial expressions that don’t match what’s happening! (Vicki Barden)

7. Funny is when you laugh till your tummy hurts (Alice Johnson)

8. A whole song about poo (Felicity Eastwood-Tromp)

9. Anything that make you pee your pants at the time and comes back to haunt you the next morning on a quiet train (Jessica May)

10. The Blanket song ‘My Blanket and Me’ (Nyree Walls)

11. Using puppets to act (Anthony Dean)

12. Lots of things: Monty Python, Arrested development, Quotes from Snatch (Kieran Tracey)

13. That Person, that wacky, nutty, nutty golf thingy guy (Jen Briggs)

 

And straight from the Horse’s Mouth:
 

1. Anything that is random! I love random things, that’s why I’ve put some of these songs in the show! I also think over the top facial expressions are hilarious - think of Jim Carey (Ryan Purdy, Director)

So how is ‘LOL’ funny?

 

It could be a combination of any or all of the following, depending on how funny/insane the following people are:

  • Ryan Purdy: Lots of random songs that you don’t know whether they’ll get a laugh or not
  • David Woods: Because I sing a song about poo
  • Mario Mohorko: Have you seen me in drag?
  • Suz Tate: Don’t know…
  • Will Sayers: I get something and run with it
  • Liam Drennan: Well timed sarcasm
  • Vicki Barden: Over-acting, terrible dancing
  • Alice Johnson: I’m funny because I like sweet corn on my pizza
  • Felicity Eastwood-Tromp: I’m playing a black dude
  • Jessica May: I’m not the songs are
  • Nyree Walls: Because I sing like a kid and people laugh at me for doing so
  • Anthony Dean: Because I like aerodynamic engineering
  • Kieran Tracey: Because I jumped on to a chair almost killed myself and a fellow cast member… still everyone laughed
  • Jen Briggs: Gonorrhoea!!
