The Last Five Years, by Jason Robert Brown (Parade), is a demanding musical, for both performers and audience. It asks a lot vocally and emotionally from its cast, whilst expecting the audience to follow two separate time lines and songs that occasionally verge on Sondheim-esque in their melodic complexity.

SLAMS' latest offering, Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, opens at the Knox Community Arts Centre tonight. We had a chat with Tyson Legg who is playing one half of the cast - Jamie Wellerstein.
I think it sucks to be me at this exact moment, trying to review the extremely popular and successful puppet musical Avenue Q. This 2004 Tony Award-winning satire of Sesame Street characters, with adult lives and problems, has had successful professional runs all over the world. SLAMS MTC have, with courage and enormous commitment, snapped up the opportunity to present this challenging piece of theatre to a local audience.
Following my review of SLAMS’ thoroughly enjoyable Suits for TP earlier this year, in which I had mentioned that I hoped the company’s next concert offering was “Skirts”, I was asked to review Skirts.
