Call for Spamalot 2012 Production Team

OXAGEN Productions is currently seeking expressions of interests for positions on the production team for their 2012 production of Monty Python’s Spamalot.

“ Monty Python’s Spamalot is a new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture MONTY PYTHON and the HOLY GRAIL. Features the song "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life". SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and featuring a bevy of beautiful show girls,not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people.

OXAGEN’s Spamalot will play from the 5th-7th October and 11th-13th October 2012 in Genazzano FCJ College’s Madeleine Centre with rehearsals beginning on the 13th May. Auditions will take place in mid-April. The Production Team is expected to commit to the whole production period (13 May – 13 October 2012) and pre-production period (to be determined by the director and production manager) as required.

As OXAGEN Productions is a not-for-profit organisation all Production Team members are expected to volunteer their time and expertise pro bono. We understand that this may be an inconvenience to some but as OXAGEN’s
audience base is rapidly growing, this provides a unique opportunity for exposure and career development.

We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following roles. Details of some of the roles are provided below.

Role Descriptions

Director
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)
- Provide artistic direction for the musical
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Devise an organized rehearsal schedule to uphold OXAGEN’s expected standards and expectations of quality
- Be present at all rehearsals and teach/assist with character development of actors and staging of performance
- Employ and direct sound and lighting professionals regarding staging of performance

Music Director
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)
- Provide all music direction for the musical
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Assist in sourcing musicians for the orchestra and being responsible for the rehearsing and conducting of the orchestra
- Devise and organized rehearsal schedule for all musicians and cast members and be present during rehearsals to teach and guide the musical direction of orchestral and cast music
- Ensure all music has been rehearsed and prepared to a high standard of performance as meets OXAGEN’s expected standards and expectations of quality

Choreographer
- Collaborate staging direction and decisions with director
- Choreograph movement of cast members
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Teach and support cast members to learn and implement choreography
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)
- Ensure cast members are performing within their physical limits and are not exercising in a way that may cause bodily harm or injury

Producer
- Oversee the welfare of performers at rehearsal venues during rehearsal and production periods
- Be aware of theatre policies (including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and insurance policy) and ensure all cast members are inducted into theatre space appropriately
- Ensure rehearsal and performance venues are booked and open for use at relevant times in conjunction with the committee
- Collaborate with Production Team and OXAGEN Committee regarding allocated show budget and ensure Production Team members spend within the constraints of the allocated budget
- Inform those who are purchasing show budgeted items that they can be directly debited from the committee before purchasing items or can be back-paid and all receipts must be kept and handed over to committee for
all show related purchases
- Inform performers of attendance requirements, follow-up performers if not in attendance
- Manage promotional campaign and ticket sales for performance
- Organize cast promotional merchandise
- Collate fundraising money (if appropriate) from cast members
- Support and assist director with relevant direction responsibilities
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)

Production Manager
- Oversee the running of the Production Team, Pre-Production Period and Production Period (Rehearsals + Performances)
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)
- Collaborate with the director and other members of the Production Team to manage the sound, lighting and set aspects of the production
- Collaborate with the music director for sourcing musicians

Stage Manager
- Manage the running of each tech run, dress rehearsal and performance
- Collaborate with the rest of the Production Team to ensure the smooth running of each performance
- Be present at rehearsals to familiarize themselves with the show
- Oversee the welfare of performers at rehearsal venues during rehearsal and production periods
- Be aware of theatre policies (including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and insurance policy) and ensure all cast members are inducted into theatre space appropriately
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)

Costume Designer
- Design costumes appropriate to the production
- Source costumes or materials required to make costumes
- Coordinate a team to make costumes
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)

Set Designer
- Design sets and props appropriate to the production
- Source sets and props or materials required to make sets and props
- Coordinate a set building team
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)

Assistant Director
- Assist the Director in the roles as stated above
- Take over the role of the Director when the Director is absent or unable to run rehearsals
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined budget)

Assistant Music Director/Repetiteur
- Assist the Music Director in the roles as stated above AND provide piano accompaniment during the rehearsal period
- Take over the role of the Music Director when the Music Director is absent or unable to run rehearsals
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Liaise with OXAGEN Committee in making production decisions, decisions that may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical and or additional financial assistance (outside of outlined
budget)

Assistant Choreographer
- Assist the Choreographer in the roles as stated above
- Take over the role of the Choreographer when the Choreographer is absent or unable to run rehearsals
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Liaise with committee if I am making production decisions, decisions which may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical

Assistant Stage Manager
- Assist the Stage Manager in the roles as stated above
- Take over the role of the Stage Manager when the Stage Manager is absent or unable to run rehearsals
- Work with the Production Team to develop the artistic vision for the musical
- Liaise with committee if I am making production decisions, decisions which may affect the company and if seeking financial support for the musical
